Giacomo Spissu
Giacomo Spissu has been the President of the Fondazione di Sardegna since 2022 and Vice President of Acri (Association of Foundations and Savings Banks) with a mandate for Relations with the Mezzogiorno. Originally from Giave (SS), he holds a degree in Literature and Philosophy and has held various roles in both the public and private sectors.
His professional career began as a teacher, a profession he pursued from 1971 to 1992. During the same years, he engaged in trade union activities, becoming a confederal secretary of the CGIL from 1980 to 1990 and then general secretary of the same Confederation until 1990. He was also a member of the Provincial Committee of INPS in Sassari and the Board of Directors of the Autonomous Institute for Public Housing of the Province of Sassari.
In the institutional field, he was a City Councilor in Sassari from 1990 to 2000, during which he also served as Budget Councillor and Mayor from 1994 to 1995. He was then elected Regional Councilor for the first time in 1999 and re-elected in the following legislature, during which he became President of the Regional Council of Sardinia. As President of the Sardinian Legislative Assembly, he was part of the Coordination Committee of the Conference of Presidents of Regional Councils and Autonomous Provinces and was Coordinator of the Committee of Regions with Special Statutes.
Since 2010, he has devoted himself to the private sector, founding a consulting and services company of which he was also an administrator. In 2015, he became a member of the Board of Directors of Sardaleasing, where he served as President from 2016 until 2022.
