The company, a spin-off of the University of Modena and Reggio, is an important example of scientific research and entrepreneurship driven by three female researchers: Eliana Grazie Leo (Professor), Eleonora Maretti (PhD), and Virginia Brighenti (PhD). It was established to address the need for an innovative and alternative solution for the treatment of Psoriasis, a chronic and currently incurable disease. Compared to current solutions, mostly corticosteroid-based, which have various side effects, the solution developed by the company is based on a natural molecule already known but modified to create a new non-corticosteroid anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions. It also serves for long-term treatments without the side effects of corticosteroid products.
